A War Story Carved in Grit, Blood, and Brotherhood

The Man Behind the Story That History Missed

Cameron Crisp writes with a voice shaped by the land he loves and the lives he’s lived. Born in North Carolina and now rooted in rural West Virginia, he spent over 20 years as a public servant in Fire Management with the U.S. Forest Service. His work has always been about protecting what matters, whether it’s forests, families, or forgotten histories.

His passion for storytelling began thanks to his youngest daughter, Autumn, who encouraged him to share the stories he carried inside. Blending a deep love for Civil War history with a desire to explore the human side of conflict, Cameron’s debut novel, Three-Tooth Confederate, is more than a war story.

It is a reflection on friendship, resilience, and what it means to endure.

A Boy Caught in a War That Was Never His to Begin With

Three-Tooth Confederate is a gripping historical novel that follows seventeen-year-old Horace Lanham, a Southern farm boy whose quiet life is swept into the chaos of the Civil War. What begins as a trip to help family turns into a fight for survival, loyalty, and identity.

Through cannon fire, frozen mornings, and letters that never arrive in time, Horace faces not just the brutality of battle, but the aching weight of growing up too fast. Alongside his closest friends, he learns what it means to lead, to lose, and to keep love alive even in the darkest moments.
